Who Would Buy This: This is for truckers are looking for a device with dependable routing, accurate speed tracking, lane assist, and a ton of available options to make truck driving easier.
Things We Liked: The Garmin dezl 560LMT comes with a lot of bells and whistles that will make driving your truck a much better experience. Let’s look at some of the cool features that you get with this GPS. We really like this particular GPS due to it’s advanced functionality.
Record keeping is one of the most important jobs of a truck driver and the Garmin dezl 560 LMT will definitely help you keep your log books in order.
- Mileage Tracking: Automatically records state mileage for IFTA fuel logging after you record fuel usage.
- Allows you to log hours of service and driving status. The 560LMT will then track your hours and automatically warn you of any HOS violations.
- Speed tracking- shows posted speed next to your trucks speed. if you go over posted speed, your trucks speed turns red and the GPS makes a pinging sound to warn you. It also warns you of road hazards such as tight turns, traffic, steep grades, height restrictions, sharp bends, high winds, and many others.
- Allows you to set RV and car profiles allowing you to use this GPS in different types of vehicles.
- Large 5 inch screen and extra loud volume control: The large screen allows you to clearly see your truck route and any other pertinent information that you need to know such as warnings and truck violations.
- Bridge heights are not That Accurate: The feature that displays bridge height is not always accurate. This can be a big issue if you have a 13′ plus trailer and you have been routed under a 12’8 bridge. The best solution for this is to use your Rand McNally Motor Carriers Atlas guide to verify clearances. A bit annoying but it can save you from a big accident or having to back up on a two lane highway.
- Slow Boot Time: Maybe I am just being picky on this one but when I turn on my GPS, I want to get started right away. The Garmin dezl 560LMT takes a few minutes to boot up. I may be a little impatient I guess but I have seen faster GPS’s.
- POI Search Process is Slow: Again, this is a personal complaint. The speed may be just right for others but I find it a little slow.
- Advertisement Pop Ups: With each traffic update there are sponsored advertisements. Not a big problem but it can get annoying at times.
